PEÑAS BLANCAS

Peñas Blancas is a gorgeous birding location on the western slopes of the Western Andes. It derives its name from the gorgeous cliffs that can be seen from our trails starting point`at the edge of the Pichindé River. Despite the large list of species we can see here, the focal point of this birding location is to visit the Andean Cock-of-the- rock lek. We will reach the lek before sunrise either by foot, or if preferred on horseback, and get a glimpse of this rarely seen spectacle and lunch while on location. This is certainly a destination that should be considered when birding in the western Andes.
